A Mulch-Tastic Day at Community SOGarden!

Remasterdirector 1a5c03258

Yesterday was a mulch better day than most—because we had some amazing visitors get their hands (and shoes) dirty with us!

We were excited to welcome back some familiar faces and introduce new friends to the joys of community gardening. With the guidance of our very own Mulch King, Gerardo, our crew learned the art of mulching and got straight to work. Why mulch, you ask? Because it’s garden magic! Mulch helps:

  • Retain moisture in the soil, so our future trees won’t be thirsty.
  • Suppress weeds, because nobody likes uninvited guests (unless they’re garden volunteers).
  • Regulate soil temperature, keeping it cool in the summer and cozy in the winter.
  • Improve soil health, breaking down over time to feed our plants naturally.

With their newfound mulching skills, our team tackled a 90-foot-long area—future home to some beautiful trees! It was a big job, but with great company, plenty of laughs, and a few well-earned breaks, we made it happen.

Huge thanks to everyone who showed up ready to work and to Gerardo for being the mulch master we all aspire to be!

The best part? Knowing that every shovel of mulch laid down today is setting the stage for a greener, healthier, and more vibrant SOGarden. We can’t wait to see what grows from today’s efforts!

Want to join in the fun next time? Come on out—we always have room for more garden magic! 🌿✨
