Become a Tasting Tour Docent at 15th Street Farm!

Welcome to 15th St Farm! As a Tasting Tour Docent, you are crucial in fulfilling our mission. This guide is designed to provide important information about our organization and a script for the tasting tours and, perhaps in the future, other events you may participate in as a farm docent. We encourage you to read it carefully, refer to it whenever you have questions, and feel free to add to the script and give us input for developing the docent role based on your own experiences and knowledge.
Role:
1. welcome tour participants and other visitors to the farm
2. share farm history, mission/vision/core values, community impacts
3. lead tasting tours, including working with volunteers/assisting with harvest for tour participants
4. promote farm events, food valued added products we have for sale (pickles jams and prepared dishes), classes and dinners, farm resources
5. participate in farm tasks (optional, with the occasion to learn but not required)
6. participate in other opportunities for docents to represent the farm at community events
Keys to success include:
1. having a team player spirit
2. nurturing an ongoing curiosity about the farm and its practices
3. greeting visitors warmly and treating all with kindness and respect, and an eagerness in communicating the farm’s many benefits and resources.
4. Share knowledge at every opportunity about living soil as the basis of life on earth
