VISTA Gardens Compost Update

Many of you are aware that VISTA Gardens has a very large compost production program. However, due to the unprecedented extreme heat and humidity we are experiencing this summer plus the understandable lack of interest by our members in volunteering to turn the bins, the VISTA Gardens Board of Directors is suspending all intake to the compost bins. The Board will review the situation again at our next meeting in early September. During normal times, we pick up almost daily a very large load of discarded fruits and vegetables from our local food pantry here in Carrollwood Village. If you garden or community is interested in picking up these discards until VISTA is again able to resume our pickups, please reply here and I can put you in touch with our food pantry leaders.
