The Mustard Seed Community Garden welcomes you!
About the Mustard Seed Community Garden
For over 10 years at the Mustard Seed Garden in Lutz, volunteers have been growing organic fruits and vegetables on nearly 1,300 sq feet of raised beds consisting of 12 rotating vegetable crop beds and 2 blueberry bush beds, along with pollinator flowers and summer cover crop of sunn hemp.
Our primary function is to provide fresh, organic produce to local community food distribution centers focusing on underserved populations, primarily Wellbuilt City Kinship Free Market and the Village Presbyterian Community Pantry; as well as providing fresh salad ingredients to the Faith in Action street ministry group at Lutz Community Church feeding the homeless in Tampa.
We also offer an “Adopt a Plot” program for folks interested in “leasing” a 4’ x 4’ space to grow their own vegetables. Our primary source of income is through holding occasional “pay as you will” sales of either our produce or foods our volunteers have prepared using our produce. Typical annual harvest is approximately 300 lbs, which in 2023 included blueberries, broccoli, carrots, green beans, assorted herbs (basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, lemongrass, cilantro) and greens (kale, collards, Swiss chard, mustard), lettuce, long beans, peppers, radish, sweet potatoes, tomatillos, tomatoes, and turnips.
